At Barry M, we are thrilled to be supporting the charity Womankind Worldwide this International Women’s Day. We’re doing our bit to help towards their vision of a world where all female-identifying people can enjoy equal rights and freedoms whilst living with joy, choice, and dignity.
Womankind Worldwide takes collective action alongside women’s rights organisations, feminist movements and activists in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. They support them to challenge inequality at home, in communities, and the workplace. They fund and strengthen these movements and advocate for change alongside them.
WHAT Womankind work on:
♥ Ending all forms of violence against women and girls
♥ Realising women’s full economic rights and control over resources
♥ Women having an equal influence in decision making, and ability to exercise political power
♥ Strengthening women’s movements at a national and international level
WHY Womankind do it:
♥ 1 in 3 women around the world experience violence in their lifetime
♥ Women make up just 25% of parliamentarians worldwide
♥ Less than 15% of landowners worldwide are women
♥ Same-sex relationships are still criminalised in 70 countries
